MedInvestGroup buys Baring Vostok stake in European Medical Centre
Baring Vostok announces the sale of its take in the European Medical Centre (EMC) to Pharmstandart, a leading Russian pharmaceuticals company. Baring Vostok joined EMC in 2012 as a large minority shareholder and invested in the company’s development. During this time, EMC transformed into the largest private operator of hospitals and clinics in Moscow and began to actively develop its presence in the regions.
The decision to sell the stake in EMC to MedInvestGroup comes after achievement of key targets and is in line with Baring Vostok’s investment horizon. EMC has significant potential to expand in Russia’s fast-growing private and high-tech medicine market, and this will be supported by the new investor’s unique expertise.
Baring Vostok remains committed to Russia’s healthcare sector and sees great potential for the development of high-tech private companies. The funds’ portfolio includes growing companies in the private medicine and pharmaceutical sectors such as Family Doctor, Solofarm and Doc +, which we will continue to develop and support.
