Russian telecom holding ER-Telecom («Dom.ru» brand) launches a new service «Dom.ru TV. Home Entertainment Center» in 3 cities – Kazan, Saint-Petersburg and Saratov.
In July «Dom.ru TV» has become available to the citizens of nine cities – Yekaterinburg, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Perm, Samara, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk. By the end of 2012 «Dom.ru TV» will be launched in all other cities, where the company has operations.
By connecting «Dom.ru TV» the Subscriber is provided basic HD-package comprising more than 20 HD-channels. The number of HD-channels will grow and by 2013 their number will reach 70. Over 90 digital SD-channels are provided to the subscribers free of charge.
«Dom.ru TV» will allow each Subscriber to create a full-fledged center of home entertainment, which combines in one screen, apart from TV, popular web applications and interactive functions. The subscriber will get access to popular web services, such as Vkontakte network, 25 thousand of licensed videos, latest news, weather forecasts and currency exchange rates right from the TV screen. Interactive functions, such as pausing, recording, e-guide, searching programs by genre and name, channel sorting, language selection, parent control, will help the Subscriber create its own format for watching TV. With the help of «Dom.ru TV» set-top box the Subscriber will be able to view any audio and video files from a USB drive, and transfer photos, videos and music from a PC to the TV set without any additional devices.
The service is based on an unrivalled hybrid technology, which means that the TV content is transferred to the Subscriber’s set-top box via a coaxial cable, and web applications – via the twisted pair cable. This ensures the highest picture quality, which does not depend on any external factors.
